Unit Policy

Sunrise is a Local Neonatal Unit providing care to babies that are more than 27 weeks old and weigh more than a kilogram.
A daily ward round takes place in the morning; we encourage parents to be present for this, but for reasons of confidentiality we ask them to leave the nursery when other babies are being discussed. If parents are unable to be present to speak to the doctors on the round the nurses will update them when they visit and ensure that they are able to speak to a member of the medical team if they wish.
We have ‘rest time’ in the nurseries from 1pm – 3pm everyday. Whilst we still encourage parents to be with their babies at this time we do ensure that no unnecessary interventions are carried out.
